Accident  Policy

At Roots Montessori Nursery, the health, safety, and well-being of every child is our top priority. While we take every precaution to ensure a safe environment, we recognize that accidents can happen. Our goal is to respond promptly and professionally to all incidents. Please review our accident policy below:

1.Supervision and Safety Measures: Our team is trained in first aid, and we conduct regular safety checks of the premises, play equipment, and classrooms. Children are supervised at all times to minimize the risk of accidents, especially during active play, meal times, and practical life activities.

2. Accident Response Procedure: In the event of an accident, our team will assess the situation promptly and provide immediate first aid as necessary. For minor accidents, such as small cuts, bumps, or bruises, first aid will be administered on-site. If an accident requires medical attention beyond basic first aid, we will contact emergency services immediately.

3. Notification of Parents/Guardians: We will notify parents/guardians as soon as possible in the event of an accident. For minor injuries, we will provide details at pickup time, either verbally or in writing. If the injury requires further medical attention, we will contact you immediately so you can make the necessary arrangements.

4. Record Keeping: Every accident will be documented in our Accident Record Book, including details of the incident, the injury, actions taken, and any follow-up required. Parents/guardians will be asked to review and sign the Accident Record to acknowledge they have been informed.

5. Consent to Administer First Aid: By signing this policy, parents/guardians authorize Roots Montessori Nursery staff to administer first aid in the event of an injury.

6. Medical Insurance Requirement: Parents/guardians are required to provide proof of medical insurance for their child to cover any potential medical expenses that may arise due to an accident. Roots Montessori Nursery does not provide medical insurance for children enrolled at our nursery.

7. Liability and Indemnity: While we make every effort to ensure safety, Roots Montessori Nursery cannot be held liable for any unforeseen accidents except where negligence is demonstrated.

Parents/guardians agree that Roots Montessori Nursery is not liable for any medical or other costs resulting from an accident. All costs related to medical treatment or care are the responsibility of the parents/guardians. Parent/Guardian Agreement I, the undersigned, have read, understood, and agree to the terms of the Roots Montessori Nursery Accident Policy. I confirm that I have provided accurate emergency contact information, proof of my child’s medical insurance, and consent to the administration of first aid if necessary.

Sick  Policy

At Roots Montessori Nursery, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all children, families, and staff. This policy outlines our approach to managing illness to help prevent the spread of infections within our nursery community. Please review the guidelines below: 1. Symptoms Requiring Absence Children should not attend the nursery if they have any of the following symptoms:

• Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher
• Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
• Persistent cough, difficulty breathing, or severe congestion
• Unexplained rash
• Contagious infections, such as chickenpox, flu, pink eye (conjunctivitis), strep throat, or COVID-19 • Any other symptoms of infectious illness
• Children should remain at home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication (e.g., fever reducers).

2. Notification of Illness: If your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness, please notify us as soon as possible so we can take appropriate steps to inform other families and staff while maintaining confidentiality. Roots Montessori Nursery reserves the right to request a doctor’s note confirming the child is no longer contagious before returning to the nursery.

3. Illness During Nursery Hours: If a child develops symptoms of illness while at the nursery, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately and asked to pick up their child as soon as possible. During this time, the child will be made comfortable and supervised in a designated area separate from other children to minimize the risk of spreading illness.

4. Medication Policy: Parents/guardians must complete a medication authorization form if their child requires medication during nursery hours. All medications must be labeled, in the original container, and stored securely. Nursery staff will only administer prescribed medications with written consent and instructions from the parent/guardian.

5. Return to Nursery: Children may return to nursery once they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication, or as advised by a healthcare professional. In cases of serious or highly contagious illnesses, a doctor’s note may be required confirming the child’s readiness to return.

6. Prevention and Hygiene Practices: Our team encourages and practices frequent handwashing and hygiene practices to reduce the risk of infection. We maintain a clean environment by regularly disinfecting toys, surfaces, and communal areas, with additional measures in place during illness outbreaks.

By signing the registration form, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of the Roots Montessori Nursery Sick and Accident Policy. I confirm that I have provided accurate emergency contact information, proof of my child’s medical insurance, and consent to the administration of first aid if necessary.
